Get Your Read On

I made it through Monday, whew! I hope you did, too :)

Today's Product Spotlight is going to be a little bit different than usual. I'm going to spotlight my current favorite reads. I've been getting a few emails asking for book suggestions, and since I love reading so much I figured it'd be appropriate to dedicate a post to some of my favorite books!
Just know that my favorite books change...oh about every month or so ;)

Another disclaimer: I don't read very riveting books by any means. Reading is my escape, so I'm more of a brain candy book kinda girl ;) So lots of mushy love, dreadful heartbreak, & audacious backstabbing. You know...the good stuff. Oh, and I'm a big advocate of reading the book before seeing the movie. That way your imagination doesn't get interrupted!

Currently Reading:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
(Book 2 of The Hunger Games Trilogy)

Seriously such a fantastic series. I thought the covers looked stupid, so I neglected reading them until last week. So that saying we learned as children, "Don't judge a book by its cover,"... noted.

Favorites:

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
via

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
via

Any book by Sophie Kinsella
via

Any book by Emily Giffin
via

And this last series is near and dear to my heart. I realize that some of you may hate me for this, but that's okay :) I've been reading these books since I was 16, so I have no shame! The books are so much better than the movies - it's absurd. (Side note: Team Edward in case you were dying to know ;))

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
via

To Read:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
via

Millennium Trilogy Series #1 by Stieg Larsson
via
If you want to know the specifics about any of the ones I've read, feel free to ask.
Do you have any others that I just absolutely have to add to my "To Read" list?
And do you still love me even though I'm a twilight fan? ;)

Is anyone else pumped for this?!

P.S. I just want to say that the "Girl Behind the Blog" blog link up yesterday was TOO much fun...I loved it! Thank you to everyone who watched my first vlog. I spent about 2 and a half hours responding to everyone's comments, and I am wiped out...but it was so worth it. You guys are more than awesome. Your encouraging words bring a smile to my face for sure!

Don't forget about Smell the Roses this week!
:)

  2. I've been wanting to read the Millennium series for sometime, I may just have to go buy the nookbooks ;)

I have a few books you should read if you haven't already!

-Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
-The Witch&Wizard Series by James Patterson
-Delirium by Lauren Oliver(and the next book is coming out this month called Pandemonium) This is my favorite book I have read in a LONG time!

Even if you ignore everything I have ever said to you in my life, don't forget to read Delirium, total love story, rips your heart out, and then stomps on it for a little dramatic effect, kind of book ;)

  3. The Hunger Games trailer looked pretty good. I should probably check out those books, then. I'm reading Looking for Alaska by John Green,Ruby by V.C. Andrews & Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer. Oh,and a collection of poems by Robert Frost. I don't know how I'm going to finish all of them! ;) And yes,the books are always better! PS. I'm also a big Nicholas Sparks fan. Have a great day! :D

  4. oooo Amber is right! Anything by John Green is a great read! Sorry for blowing up this post, I am a book nerd...ever at a loss for something to read come ask me :)

I'm also really into Ellen Hopkins, but to be honest her stuff is kind of depressing. Mainly about substance abuse, and problems within struggling teens.

  5. I LOVED THE HUNGER GAMES!
I can't wait to see the movie - I'm currently reading The Help. It's pretty good! And I totally plan on reading all of Emily Griffins books!

  6. I LOVE The Hunger Games! Such a good series! I am so stoked for the movie in March.

The Help is one of my favorite books and hands-down my favorite movie. I hope you enjoy it! I liked the Millennium trilogy, too. It's graphic, but the Larsson writes a good story and that's why I kept reading.

I need to finish Water for Elephants. Although at this point it's been so long since I touched it that I may as well start rereading from the beginning.

I cannot stand the Twilight series, but I don't hate you for loving them. I just figured I should get that fact out of the way now, haha.

  8. Being I teach high school reading, Young Adult Literature makes up some of my favorite reads. The Hunger Games Series was AMAZING, and book 2 was the best! I also loved The Twilight Series, and Water for Elephants is one of my all time favorites. The Help was fun, and I think you will like it. Someone above listed Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher as a book you should read - I agree!! I was one of my top picks for my students 2 years ago.

    Happy Reading!!

  14. Fantastic choices! Totally ate up the Hunger Games series - and while reading them may or may not have dreamed I was in the Hunger Games. Multiple times. Redeeming Love is such an incredible book. And I love Sophie Kinsella, especially all the trouble Becky Bloomwood gets into. Twenties Girl is another of my favorites by her, if you haven't read it, you should check it out! Also love The Help. Never read Emily Giffin, but I'm liking your choices so far, I'll have to add her to my list!

  21. It seems like everyday someone is talking about having read The Hunger Games series. I've got to read these. I too love Emily Giffin, Water for Elephants and The Help.

I usually stick to the Chic-Lit books, but have taken on 11/22/63 by Stephen King...it's 849 pages, but so far so good.

PS - Love the color of the week.

I also adore everything by Emily Giffin. Her new book comes out July 31st! Can't wait!

If you like all these books, you'll definitely like The Help. Make sure you read it before seeing the movie. It's so much better (as always).

  35. It's official...we would make amazing real life friends because all of the books you listed as your favorites are my favorites too! :) Have you read the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers? I read them when I was in high school and LOVED them, so if you liked Redeeming Love I def recommend the other that I just mentioned! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. We have very much the same reading style. Redeeming Love is my #1 book love! About to start the Hunger games and loved the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Check out the Mark Of the Lion series. I'm thinking of rereading it.

  37. We have SUCH similar taste in books! I laughed when you read that you judged the Hunger Games books by their cover, because so have I! I just broke down & bought the first one last week, but I haven't had time to start it yet. From what people say, once I do, I won't be able to put it down.

I love a good Jodi Picoult book too. I get into that type of "ripped from the headlines" kind of books. Have you ever read any of hers?

We'd like to put your button on our page? Would you be interested in a swap? We're just so happy to FINALLY have a button. ;)
