I mean obviously I'm not going to be doing cartwheels over what happened, but I really didn't need to get as upset as I did. Buck obviously had an upset stomach (reaction to new treats) and was trying to get out of the apartment to do his business.
As I sat scrubbing up dog poop (good times) I had a revelation. I'm supposed to be thankful in all circumstances. Yeah, I've heard that over and over again, but when something annoying/frustrating/not awesome happens is my time to shine and actually act thankful.
I came home from work to a pile of dog poop.
BUT
I have a job to go to everyday and a home to come home to every night.
I start school tomorrow, so I'll be working and going to school at the same time (my head is spinning already).
BUT
I have the opportunity to go back to school and go after my dream of teaching elementary school.
I felt like a busted can of biscuits no matter what outfit of mine that I tried on yesterday.
BUT
I have a full closet of clothes to wear.
I was really tired and unmotivated during my workout this morning.
BUT
I have a healthy body that is capable of performing high intensity workouts.
It's freaking hot outside and I start sweating as soon as I walk out of my apartment.
BUT
I'm able to walk outside freely and enjoy the fresh air.
I decided to spare y'all and not post a picture of Buck's mess. So instead I'll show you what I enjoyed last night after clean up.
I really need to reevaluate the things that I complain about.
So yes, I'm thankful that I spent 20 minutes scrubbing dog poop off of my carpet tonight :)
Drooling over those pomegranate seeds dipped in chocolate! My definition of heaven!
ReplyDeleteI love this blog post. Not the poop part, of course ;) but the fact that you're looking at the positive in your negative situations. :) I so need to work on this!!

ReplyDeleteThat's such a great way to look at things. :) I'll have to remind myself to do this the next time I find myself letting one negative moment put me in a bad mood.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those chocolate-covered fruit gels! The pomegranate are my favorite, but I also really like the acai. :) Btw, way to stay so positive! This post was an inspiration for my week. :)
ReplyDeletethis is so lovely. Thanks for reminding me to not take the little things for granted!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I think it's easy to forget to put things into perspective, and things like this help remind us to be thankful for the things that we DO have going for us.
ReplyDeleteAw, poor puppy! Bear had a situation like that, but couldn't get out of his cage, so he just pushed the pan liner out.
ReplyDeleteI came home to a dog who was like "Here's your giant tray of poop!"
And you're right, we have so much to be thankful for that it's so easy to forget it all and just focus on the miniscule crap.
I've come home to similar situations many times! Always makes me feel so bad for my baby, but at at least she tried! And isn't it crazy how God steps in and reminds us to be thankful when things are less than perfect? Love when he does that!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Those dark chocolate pomegranates are AMAZING! :)
Absolutely loved this post! It's nice to stop and remind yourself why you should be grateful to have what you have, even if the situation is crummy.
ReplyDeleteLooooove Rex. Esp their Moscato.. ooo girl.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you found the good in all those things...you are too cute! And that wine and chocolate looks amazeballs...hope Buck is feeling better :)
