Guys, I have a confession to make:
I miss blogging.
It's been nice being out and about doing things all the time. But I miss coming back and sharing it all with you wonderful people. I never realized how beneficial the reflection part of blogging was for me.
There are two major changes that are happening in my life very soon. I'm hoping that once I get these under control that I will be able to schedule blogging back into my life more consistently :)
The first thing:
I'm moving! In 2 weeks I will be living in a new apartment that is 10 minutes away from Adam, my friends & my family! Eeek! Here's to NOT having to spend 1/4 of my day in the car driving from my apartment to meet up with my loved ones. I'm so excited that I'll be able to cook dinner with friends, workout with friends, and just do more spur of the moment things with friends since I'll be right there with them. Oh the little things...
Expect lots of posts giving you tours of my new place :)
And the second thing:
I'm starting grad school in January...yep! I'm going back for my MAT in Elementary Education, and I am ecstatic. I've had the idea of becoming a teacher in my head since I was in high school, but just never wanted to do it for some reason. Every time I've tried to move on to another career path, my heart would always go back to teaching elementary school. Then I started blogging and a lot of the blogs that I read are written by teachers...and they are just such passionate people!
I'm still working through studying for my certified personal trainer exam, but my heart isn't in it like I'd hoped. I realized that health & fitness is a passion of mine, but learning the science & technicalities of it isn't up my ally. Since I already paid for the course, I'm planning on finishing studying & taking the exam in December. Maybe I'll teach a few group exercise classes during the summers when I'm not teaching...time will tell.
So I start the education program in January 2013 and will finish in May 2014. Here's to making it through grad school!
Funny how life changes in a snap. I've learned not to hold onto things so tightly, because they can flee at any given moment. I've learned to appreciate every moment for what it is rather than what I want it to be. I've learned to have less, do more, be more.
If you like that little phrase, then you're gonna wanna come back by tomorrow and see what's in store for you :) I promise it'll make up for the lack of pictures in today's post!
These are two VERY exciting changes! You can have passion for health and fitness AND teaching!

ReplyDeleteBIG, BIG Congrats friend on all of these awesome changes!! Change can be really sweet sometimes. I love new stages of life and I'm gonna love following along with you :)
ReplyDeletePlease, please do tell me more about the grad school program! I've always been super interested in teaching but I know that your major (I think) wasn't related to education, and mine wasn't either. So how does grad school work in a situation like that?
I've looked at a lot of different possibilities for getting into teaching too. Something that I've always had on my heart too. Recently I've been doing more research on it. But I'd love to hear your grad school story!
Love ya, friend! Can't wait to hear more about your life :)
Congrats on all the big changes Jessica! :) Moving closer to friend, family and Adam will be SO nice. Good luck with your program!
ReplyDeleteSome massive changes in your life! I love reading your blog but take it easy! Get that exam done, do as well as you can, move and settle into your new place, and bring on that teaching course (I'm a primary teacher too).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the updates along the way!
I'm thrilled that you're going to teach! It's the most wonderfully rewarding job in the world :) I can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog, and was so pleasantly surprised to read you are getting your MAT! I got my MAT in 2009 in Secondary English Education, after realizing I wasn't truly passionate about the career choices my undergrad degree offered. For the past three yeas, I have been teaching 8th, 9th, and 10th grade Language Arts, and I have had SUCH a sense of gratitude, joy, and satisfaction in my career choice. You are exactly right - teachers are PASSIONATE people, and there's nothing like throwing yourself into your work in THIS career, because as much as you give the kids, and as much as passion as you can devote to your class, the kids give you THAT MUCH back. Plus, what other job can you laugh EVERY SINGLE DAY? I wish you luck!
ReplyDeleteSuch exciting changes!! I can't wait to see how it all goes - you will do great!
ReplyDeleteI already told you this but yay on getting into the grad program. Us teachers are a passionate people and I think you would make an absolute great teacher! Teachers need to be caring, reflective, honest, all three which you are.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever need anything for your grad class, let me know.
I am so excited for you. You will be a wonderful teacher. I hope the rest of your week is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on some new exciting beginnings friend!! First off, how awesome is it that you will be that much closer to the fam AND your boo?!?! I know it's just gonna open all types of adventures for you that you can share with us all on this bloggy blog!
ReplyDeleteANDDDD congrats again on grad school!! Teaching, huh?? How awesome is that!! Proud of you love!
xxo, Bev
I've changed my career path so many times and guess what? That's allowed! If we don't change as we learn, then we will end up miserable. I hope to have a career eventually, but for now, I'm simply growing and learning.
ReplyDeleteJessica - As a teacher I also excited for you! In th back of my mind as a follower of you blog I have said all along that you have the makings of a great teacher! Also, so glad you will be closer to friends and family! Great news! Can't wait to see the new place!
