Make That Money!

Hi wonderful people!
I hope each of you had a wonderful weekend :)

Last week's Smell the Roses task was to show appreciation for your job.
I've been getting quite a few emails & comments asking me what I do as far as work goes.

I don't really know why I haven't shared it on here before. Today is the day I guess.
Let me first start out by saying...I don't have a glamourous job, it's not my dream job, I'm not really passionate about what I do, BUT I am extremely grateful that I have such an accommodating job.

I work for an A/C company called Airite Air Conditioning, Inc. YEP...for an A/C company haha!

I work in the office, and I am responsible for doing the company's billing. My title is "Service Coordinator"...which I have no idea where that came from! I've been working there since I was 19 years old. Some of you might be wondering how in the world I came into a job like this.

Well let me tell you! My Granddad & Dad have worked in the A/C industry for as long as I've been alive. So I've always been around it. If you would've told the high school me that I would someday be working in the A/C business I WOULD HAVE LAUGHED AT YOU.

But I needed a college job that paid all of my bills AND was willing to work with my school schedule. BAM, Granddad got me a job at Airite. My Granddad is the Executive Vice President of the company and since I've been working there, my Dad has transferred to Airite as the Vice President of Service.

My younger brother also works at Airite. And so does Adam! Although, I don't see Adam very often. He is a service technician so he is usually out in the field working at job sites.

There's a little look at my desk. Nothing fancy. But that's okay because I only spend about 20 hours a week in the office. Like I mentioned earlier, my job is VERY accommodating. Perks of working with family? YES. I work the other 10 hours a week from home.

I work half days Monday-Thursday in here, and Fridays I work from home.

Here's a close up shot of my desk. See my water bottle and carrots/hummus?! ;) Oh and of course my Erin Condren planner!

For this week's task, I decided to write my Granddad an appreciation card.
He knows that I am not passionate about my job and that now that I've graduated from college that I'm planning on getting into other things.

He supports my health/fitness dreams and knows that I want to go into business for myself.
He has offered me the opportunity to work at Airite part time as I get my own business up and running.
It truly is a blessing, and I never take it for granted! If it wasn't for my Granddad, I probably wouldn't have the guts to pursue my dreams & passions.

Did you do anything to show appreciation for your job? I'd love to read about it, so link up with me :)

This week's task:
Treat yourself.

I strive to spend a lot of my time reaching out to others. I love inspiring people and pouring into them whenever I can. Sometimes I forget to take care of myself though - I stay up late talking to people or answering emails or I skip out on doing things that I want to do for me, because I'd rather do something that someone else wants to do.

Well I think that if we're not careful we can get burnt out, so this week I think we should each do something to treat ourselves. You can take a bubble bath, get a pedicure, buy that dress you've been looking at for a few weeks now. OR you can do all of the above ;)

Remember that you are beautiful, strong & driven. The world wouldn't be the same without you AND you are making a difference!

  1. Aww this is so sweet! How amazing to work with your family! I would kill to work from home, it's definitely on my list of things to achieve in the future, although I think I'd be guilty of a few too many afternoon naps ;)

  3. Hey girl! I just recently started reading your blog, and I have to tell you this post cracks me up! It's SO similar to my work situation it's ridiculous... I also work at a not-so-glamorous job at my family's business, doing accounting... AND I work 20 hours in my office, 10 hours at home... AND I somehow want to transition from that into the health (education) field... I just thought the parrallels were so funny! I definitely agree that the flexibility of working with family is THE BEST. But more recently, my favorite part of working with everyone is just getting to spend time with them on a daily basis... Such a blessing. :)

Anyway, I love your blog! You seem like such a doll!

  5. It has to be awesome and laid back at a job like this, surrounded by family! I had a job thru college working for a contractor at a facility.. My job? Oh getting paid $17 an hour to play on Facebook and talk to my girl friends all day. And shared an office with a best friend. We would sneak to the closet (back room to office) and paint nails! Completely loved getting paid so much to do nothing. When we did have work, we worked hard and did a good job at completing the task, but I never truly appreciated how easy I had it. I did get to save up

  9. That's amazing that you get to work with family, what a blessing! And the fact that your Grandad is willing to help you by letting you work part time until your fitness career is started is awesome! I'm finally going to do the Smell the Roses tasks, I see them each week and think that I would like to participate but then I get distracted... whoops!
Anyway have a great Monday! :)

  10. It's cool to see where you work and to see your granddad. If he's been in other pictures, I don't think I noticed him. I usually just marvel at how cute you and Toy are! :-)

  13. An A/C company is better than a fast food restaurant I suppose...that's where I worked from the time I was 14 to a couple of weeks before my daughter was born. Chick-Fil-A to be precise...which isn't fast food gross like McDonalds or Burger King, but it still falls into the fast food category even though it's much nicer & tastier :)

Love your task for the week...definitely think I'll take you up on that :)

  21. Read this post yesterday while i was at the airport and meant to comment then, but time slipped away from me. I think it's awesome possom that you work in a family business BUT refuse to make that your career goals right now. Some people feel obligated to stay there and only there all of eternity. But the best part is you know what you want, and are very grateful for what you have now! Your gpa is adorbs and looks full of happiness!!

  22. Awww I bet he loved your card! I worked for family too, but mine wasn't as accommodating. Haha. I did get to fly to New York and live it up, though, so that part was fun. The desk work I had to do? Notsomuch.

  23. SO awesome, I'm always wishing we had a family business, but it's just not something that will ever happen since we don't really even have a "family".. but that doesn't mean that I can't one day start my own :)
